In the season of chestnuts
And muddy leaves,
In a park in Stuttgart, Germany
An architecture for liquid –
A water fountain flows,
Carrying the wishes
Of things its known.
Yes, leaves, and chestnuts
Euros and pennies
All pay the price of
Hopes and Dreams
But what is the currency of wishes?
Is a leaf as great as a penny?
Does a chestnut tossed in by a tree
Hold as much weight
As tears rippling a reflection?
How does the wishing well decide,
To choose if a wish
should be granted
Or set aside?
